is the quintessential survey devoted to
food and drink in connection with the arts – there’s nothing
quite like it. Each page is packed with facts, attitudes and
dynamic editorial that encompass a whole range and breadth
of meaning and style.
The topics we explore range
from the context of food in fine art, film, literature music
and photography to the secrets of sherry, gourmet-tourism, the miracle of
Marmite, the oldest salmon smokery firm in London, natural
ingredients, specialist producers, fair trade and the arts,
cafe society, food in operas, healthy recipes and, above
all, the nourishment or creation of aesthetic awareness.
However, we are now developing the range and meaning of this
domain exponentially, to include a comprehensive data base
of painters, sculptors and designers - historic and
contemporary,
whose work is related to food. Over the forthcoming years we
also intend to research and develop a new area of FOOD IN THE
ARTS, comprising: The figurative contexts of food; allogory
and still-life; rituals and legends of food; food and drink;
the dining table and its associations.
